Stun Gun Selection Guide
Because of the wide selection of Stun Guns offered by D&D Security Products, we often receive questions from our customers asking how to chose the best Stun Gun. To help our customers make the right decision, we have developed this guide. It is complied with information from our experience and research acquired over the last twelve years in the security business.
Large vs SmallStun Guns come in many sizes. To the right are examples of our largest and smallest.
It used to be necessary for high voltage stun guns to be large because they required more batteries. Today, that isn't completely true because of the use of lithium battery technology.
The Large stun gun has two advantages, it has a wider electrode separation and it is intimidating.
The advantage of the Small stun gun is that it can be easily concealed
Chose the large stun gun when you want someone to know you have a stun gun and are ready to use it.
Chose the small stun gun when you need to be discrete and do not want others to know you are carrying a weapon.
Stun Guns send a series of high voltage electrical pulses through the muscles. These pulses cause the muscles to rapidly contract. The result is the same as heavy exercise where the blood sugar drops and lactic acid concentration increases. The wider the electrode separation, the longer the electrical path through the muscles. A longer path means more muscles are exercised making the stun gun more effective.
| MODEL | SEPARATION | Below is a chart showing locations on the body for the effective use of a stun gun

Many of the full size stun guns come in curved or straight models. Here at D&D Security Products, we try to offer as many options as possible including straight and curved configurations. The advantage of the straight model is that is more compact and easier to carry. The advantage of the curved model allows a more natural wrist angle when using the stun gun.

9 volt Alkaline Batteries. |
New Lithium technology gives higher powersmaller size, and longer life. |
EXAMPLES
|
The use of an Alkaline battery is important. The stun gun will not work reliably if a common carbon battery is used.
Lithium Stun Guns require a Lithium Battery CR123A. |
| Model | Battery Type | Number | Battery Life The Lithium Stun Guns have more battery life than the Alkaline Stun Guns. The 900KV Lithium Stun Gun has been tested for 700 discharges without battery failure. | ||

Many stun guns come with a nylon holster. For those that don't, a holster can be purchased separately. All of our holsters are
made of sturdy nylon. They have a flap that folds over the stun gun and snaps shut. There is also a loop that attaches to your belt.
Most full size and some small stun guns have a wrist strap. A wrist strap is important when using a stun gun. It prevents
dropping the stun gun during a struggle. It also helps prevent a person taking the stun gun away from you and using it against you.
Street Wise Stun Guns have a unique wrist strap. They have a pin that plugs into the stun gun. If the stun gun and wrist strap ever becomes separated, the stun gun will be inopperable and can not be used against you.
Most Stun Guns have a belt clip. This can be used as an alternative to a holster. If using a holster, or you do not want to use a belt
clip, it can usually be removed.
A safety switch is usually located on the side of the stun gun opposite the trigger. It is a slide switch that prevents the stun gun
from operating when in the off position. It helps prevent accidental discharge when carrying the stun gun in your pocket or purse.
It also is a good idea to turn the switch off when changing batteries.
